Frequently Asked Questions

The questions we hear most often about Hwajodang and about Saju.

What is Hwajodang?
Hwajodang is a Saju service that combines perpetual-calendar-grade chart calculation with an AI reading. A character named Yuna narrates the result, translating classical four-pillars analysis into everyday language.
What exactly is Saju?
Saju is the four-pillar dataset of your year, month, day, and hour of birth, written as eight characters in the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches system. Those eight characters are also called palja.
Is AI-driven Saju accurate?
The calculation step relies on perpetual-calendar data, so a human and an AI produce the same chart. The interpretation step uses a model trained on classical Saju principles, giving more consistent readings than an off-the-cuff human interpreter — though no system can deliver deterministic predictions.
Do I need an account to get a reading?
Hwajodang is currently in members-only beta. Sign in with Kakao or Google to enter your birth details and receive a reading.
How much does it cost?
One reading costs 20 credits, and 1 credit equals 100 KRW — so a single reading is 2,000 KRW. Credit bundles include bonus credits on top.
How do I pay?
Domestic users pay by card or mobile-pay through PortOne's Toss channel; international users pay via Gumroad. Credits are added automatically once payment clears.
Are refunds available?
Unused credits can be refunded subject to our refund policy. See the refund page for the exact terms.
Can I get a reading without knowing my birth hour?
Without the hour pillar, accuracy drops for late-life, offspring, and fine-grained personality cues. The remaining three pillars still support a meaningful broad reading.
Should I enter a lunar or a solar birth date?
Either is fine. Saju is calculated by solar terms, so a solar birth date produces the same chart as the corresponding lunar date.
What is Ohaeng?
Ohaeng is the five-element system — wood, fire, earth, metal, water — used to classify the energies of nature and of people. Saju reads a chart's balance through its generating and overcoming cycles.
What is yongsin?
Yongsin is the key element or character that restores balance to a chart — supplementing what is scarce or moderating what is excessive. It anchors the direction of the reading.
Are my readings saved?
Every reading is saved to your history and can be reopened anytime. You can also generate a share link to send a reading to someone close.
Is a Saju reading a deterministic forecast?
No. Saju maps innate temperament, the relative strength of the five elements, and the seasonal flow of energies. Choices remain yours, and Hwajodang's readings avoid deterministic claims.
Is the service available in languages other than Korean?
Korean and English are both supported. Saju terms appear in romanized form alongside the original Korean so readers new to four-pillars astrology can follow without prior background.
Where do I send a support inquiry?
Sign in and open a ticket from the support center. Replies typically arrive within one business day, and payment questions are reviewed against your transaction history.
